abundant grace

1 Timothy 1:14 The grace of our Lord, however, was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

How can actually grace abound? How can there be so much grace from God for all those sinful people? Because abundance means that there is more than enough and if we look at ourselves and also look around us, we see a lot of sin. But there is enough grace for all those sins, the blood of Christ can already wash our sins so that they no longer exist. That is the work of Christ and from that grace we may live. And there's plenty! That does not mean we are in a hurry to sin away, a child of God does not want to do sin, but it does mean that our shortcomings are filled with his blood. There is enough!
These are the two most important aspects of grace, faith and love. But it is also the most difficult things when we do not know Christ. Because we live in disbelief and actually in lovelessness. We think only of ourselves and deny the existence of Christ as Savior. The ultimate love from Him, we do not believe in, and we do not hand out too. But God's grace has gripped us, as we have become satisfied with that, then we have an indestructible faith and an inexhaustible source of love. For he is, after all Love!
In Christ we can find grace and it's enough to live on. It is enough here on earth to live, but also to forever live on. He has again made it right with God, He has taken away the curse of sin and He calls you and me to believe Him and love. We may give the love of Him in this dark world. It's Halloween time and as a counterpart to this dark festival, there is the festival of Light! Then we can celebrate again in a little while. But today is a special day, on this day we remember the people that Luther has rendered the word of God. It has been translated and explained to the people. Grace is not for sale if God wants something from us, but the grace of His Son is enough for all our sins.
So let's let our light shine in this world. We must tell others of His grace, faith and love, of hope in glorious future! And if you read this and do not partake of His grace, you can also open your heart and receive His grace! Believe in Him and let you carry by his love because God loves you and does not want you lost.
Amazing grace!

Peace in Christ

John 16:33 These things have I spoken unto you, that you may have peace in me. In the world you will have tribulation, but have good courage: I have conquered the world.

Jesus speaks these words after He has spoken of the Holy Ghost, of His Father and of Himself. About the reason of His coming and what Jesus and the Spirit do on earth. Jesus did not speak in parables, but in plain language without imagery. And the disciples ask him, why did you speak this now?

Jesus has spoken this so that we may have peace in him. Peace, not peace like it is in a war that both encamp peace, but in the middle of a war a sense of security. The protective arms of Jesus feel about us and know that He takes care of us. That's the peace of God: He takes care of us He guides us through the dark valley and through the troubles here on earth and He loves us. We can know that peace through the Lord Jesus.

For in the world we shall have tribulation, says Jesus. Perhaps you think so: what an exaggeration. The Christians in China, who suffer tribulation and in Africa, are prosecuted. In Islamic countries, tribulation is only and where others believe is the greatest. Partly, that's right, but do not we avoid tribulation? In China they go to church on Sunday, no one knows. And what do we do in the west? We just do not go to church, that is not necessary. Thus we avoid tribulation. And what about our work? Do we do anything for the boss or the money? Even when it comes to the Bible? Are we strict enough for ourselves when it comes to television and the internet or are we all in?

Tribulation goes far, very far. And we must stand strong and not dodge tribulation by contributing everywhere by giving to all temptations and not wanting to be different from the world. For Christ has overcome the world and Satan is defeated. Death has been destroyed because Jesus has risen. That makes us free! Free from this world and free from sin. Then, in our life, we can celebrate the celebration of victory together with Jesus. That's life in his path and not living with the world.

Christ fulfills us with peace, He leads us by His hand. He protects us and knows us. Live with him, stand strong with him and live especially in his victory! He conquered the world in which we receive so much resistance, but in Him we may stand strong and be different. Then we will experience His peace and our lives will be richer.

The Lion and the Lamb

Hebrews 9:12 He has not entered into the sanctuary once upon a time by the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, and has thereby brought forth eternal salvation.

It is a contradiction: the lion and the lamb. The lion is the king of animals, a leader in his area and receives respect from all other animals. On the other hand, the lamb, who is helpless without the shepherd, could not even survive. When we speak and read about Jesus, He is the Lion and the Lamb.

For as Lamb Jesus was led to slaughter. He let himself taken away, without struggle. He gave His own blood for the sins of the world. Before that moment, a goat had to be slaughtered for reconciliation with God. But now Jesus suffered as a lamb for slaughter. His blood ensures that you and I can be saved from eternal death. Just like the blood at the door post at the exodus, death did not enter there, so is it for God's children too. The blood of Jesus does not save you for earthly death, but for eternal death. Is it your rescue already?

But besides the Lamb, which carries away the sins of the world, Jesus is also the Lion. The Lion of Judah, risen with power from death. Who has conquered hell and defeated death. That lion that has ensured that there is eternal salvation for anyone who believes in Him. He is the King of the world, no one is stronger than Jesus. Even Satan trembles when he hears His name. He shattered the head of Satan and made Him powerless for His children.

Jesus also wants to be your Lamb and Lion. No, He does not depend on us to be that. He is too big for it, because he is the Son of God. But He wants to be for you, He loves you and gave His life. As Lamb He let him torture for you, hang on the cross, descend to hell and die himself. As a Lion, he came back from God's abandonment with the words: it has been accomplished, as a lion he has risen from the dead he now reigns with God his father.

What a lovely God we have, what a loving Son and the Spirit of the Son wants to work in us and show us on the Lamb and the Lion. He is both of them! Come on, we fall down in worship for that lovely Jesus. Your Name has been praised!

In wonder (2)

Exodus 14:22 And the people of Israel went in the midst of the sea in the dry place. The water was a wall for them on their right and left hand.

Have you ever seen a wall of water? No of course not. That does not exist. Water flows and is liquid, which cannot stand upright and also form a wall? Yet it happened when the people of Israel fled from Egypt and the people were sealed between the desert and the water while Pharaoh came behind them. A wonderful story in which God shows His powerful hand. He has all the power and can even make a wall of water.

God commanded Moses to stretch his staff over the water and break the sea. There was absolutely no doubt with God and therefore not with Moses. God knew that if Moses would extend his staff, that He would send the wind to dry it, and that He would put the water as a wall along the path. God has that power, He created everything and He can also make such an adjustment in His creation that it changes structure. As the water can stand upright like a wall, it is a little change for God.

That God stood and stands on the side of Israel. When they were in trouble, He did not let them down. They began to shame on Moses and to cry, because they were afraid of course. And yet God stood on their side, making sure that the Egyptians could not come closer and He helped them through the sea. But that God is also on our side, He is there for you and me too. Not because we are so good, not because our faith is so strong, but because He wants to be our God. When you believe in the Being Son as your Savior and Savior, this God that has driven the sea and made a path, is even your God!

Thus we may wonder about the power of our God! He can do everything and wants to give us everything. Not that it always goes as we would like, but with Him on your side there is always a path. For God also made paths in invisible things, in pain and sorrow, in psychological problems, in deprivation, in sins we cannot stop with, with all we can get into, God can make a way. And then he sets up walls that protect us.

Then focus on God, focus your life on Him, marvel at His omnipotence and make you fulfill by His greatness!

In wonder (1)

Genesis 1: 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

When you think of God, about who He is and what He has done, we will be short of words. Because God is always there, our understanding is over. We cannot understand that, but we do not have to understand that either. When we want that, we make the faith very difficult. Because then we want to understand and we cannot.

The Bible begins with: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. There was apparently no heaven yet and there was no earth. There was nothing at all. Maybe that's the black hole we hear so much about. The black hole from then there was nothing. For once God began, he went on. When He saw how good everything was, He made even more. And it was all good!

So the start was all good! God created the light when there was no sun and no moon. God later created the sun, moon and stars. And he just did that out of nothing. But there it did not stop. He made a difference between land and water. He made the flowers, trees and plants. He made the birds, fish and animals and of course, the crown of creation: man. And God saw that it was good.

Now take such a God into your mind and let him work on you. Without all that has happened after creation. When we look at God and so pure to that God who created everything, we can only admire and wonder. Because who can create an animal? Complete? Who designed life and developed everything so that the whole nature connects and needs each other?

Look at the details in nature: the water that always stays in a cycle. From sea water to clouds, to rain, to river and weather to sea. The water never gets up! But also to the human and animal body. Everything has been thought of: digestion, breathing, moving and even thinking. It is all in agreement. And in animals it is equally well-matched. And so there are many examples. And God created it! We do not even have to discuss a discussion because something like that cannot happen by accident.

Think of the Creator again! Does he get your and my worship? He is worth it and we can give our lives to Him and wonder about who He is and what He does. His great deeds are sometimes incomprehensible, but He is God!

I am of Christ

Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of your face you will eat bread, until you return to the ground because you came from it; Because dust is you and you will return to dust.

Who are you? There, biologists and scientists can talk for hours and many books have been written about it. Some smart people think we descend from the fish, others from the monkeys, and so there are different opinions. The Bible teaches us that we are dust and that we will return to dust again. Well say, what a negative word. Man does not mind anything at all, it's a bit dusty and when life's out, the weather turns into dust. Indeed, so is it.

You and I do not suggest anything, we can be very honest. Perhaps you are good at making a lot of money, good at your hobby or having a lot of knowledge of the Bible. Maybe you can sing well and become a star? Indeed, sometimes people can do a lot and sometimes seem a lot. But still there is that text: dust you are. For all we can have, we cannot stop death and we cannot give us salvation. It all stops when life is out of our way.

And that is precisely the wealth of a child of God! Who knows that he or she is dust and does not actually suggest anything. Who knows that he or she is only sinful and, as the Bible says, unable to do the good. But whoever believes in the Lord Jesus, who has everything in him! And then suddenly there is a powerful person, a living person, who will live forever. Then it will not stop when we return to dust. No, then the wonderful life begins with Him only.

Then it's wonderful that God wants such a person, who does not actually imagine and choose Him. That God opens His arms wide to embrace you and look at you through Jesus Christ. Then you are not suddenly a popular person or a great person, you are just a dependent person. Someone who expects everything from God and His Spirit. Then you may flourish and grow to his honor.

Jesus died but did not turn into dust. He is ascended and sitting on God's right hand to pray for us. He blows His Spirit on us and shares gifts to you and me. Use those gifts and live before Him! Let yourself flow through the Spirit, open yourself and you will see what gifts God has for you. Your dead I come to life through life with Christ and you may live by His mercy! Who am I? I am of Him, Jesus Christ!

The love of Christ

1 Corinthians 15: 3 For I delivered you first what I received also, that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures.

Are coming with me to take a look at Golgotha? See, there's a man hanging on a cross. He hangs in between other men and sometimes speaks a few words. But it are powerful words, words of forgiveness, eternal salvation, a cry to God and a declaration of fulfillment of His great mission: die for the sins of men.

Jesus is widely used as a curse. He is often mocked and talked about Him as about a fairy tale. In the world, on Facebook, on television it does not matter what you look and read, but you see such a hate against him. But why that hate? Because if you have taken a look at Golgotha, you see that Christ who carries the whole world on his shoulders. He had to die as punishment for the sin of the people. Yes, there you can be blind, but He also wants to open your eyes. His love for people is infinitely deep, He even wanted to die for it.

We may worship Jesus because He has carried the punishment of God. You could not do it yourself, I could not even hang on a cross and think of others so what about die for others? But Jesus gave His life and that is the core of faith.
He gave Himself delivered to Satan and to death. He has come down to hell, out of pure love. There is absolutely no grammar of own interest, but He has given Him as a sacrifice. For your sins, without having to do anything for it. It does not have to happen yet, it has already been completed. You only have to believe it.

And when we can believe this, this lovely love of Jesus, we fall in worship!

Lord Jesus my Savior! You are exalted and your love is inexhaustible. You went to the cross for me and carried my sins. What a wonderful Savior you are. I praise you who you are, what you do and what you have done. No one loves me as much as you do. And by that I may love you, like no one else. You are perfect, holy, delicious, wonderful and loving. My Jesus, my Savior. Hallelujah!

A river of Christ

Ephesians 5:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

What's actually happening to you when you get to know Christ? That is a question that many young people are concerned with, but that is also very important for adult people. It is a question of which we find the answer in the Bible, in several places. But one of the core texts about it, in Ephesians, is that you are dressed with the new human being. That new person created according to the image of God, in true righteousness and truth.

So we must become like Adam and Eve befor the fall. That is of course impossible because sin has infected all of us and we will not get it out of us until we eventually will be in heaven. But it must be our goal. God does not ask us to be legal, God does not ask us to speak in all kinds of languages or to become a preacher. He asks us to take care of the new person.

That new person can be received in His Son, Jesus Christ. When we accept Christ's sacrifice for our sins, new life is created in us. Our soul changes from one moment to another, from desolate to glorified. But we do not live like that yet. There is so much we do, that goes against God's will. It does not belong to the new person. The new human being is directed at God, the new human being is righteous and in truth. The new person does not want to do things that go against God's Word, who wants to take care of the poor, follow Christ in everything.

But we need Him for that. The Spirit of Christ is poured out on us and we can be changed by the Holy Spirit. He will flow into us like a river, a river that is aimed at God. A refreshing river that opens our eyes to sin and raises our eyes to Christ. He will be central and so we ourselves become a river of God's message. People can see it to us. Not so much to our appearance, but to our inner and what message we have for the world! Thus we may be a river of God's mercy, because that river is poured into us. That's the new person. Delicious yet to be and to be!

The privilege of a human being

Psalm 8: 4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Hebrews 2: 6 But there is one who has testified: What is man that you think of him, or the son of man, that you look at him?

Man is perfected by God, just like the angels. Just as the whole creation is actually perfected by God. Yet, man has a privileged position. Humanity was created in God's image, which shows that God truly saw human being the crown on His creation. He wanted to create something special, the cream on the cake, people with his own will to serve him.

But it was a bit different! Man made sin own and chose against God. And from then on there is a tear between God and man. The same happened to angels, for in heaven there were angels rebelled against God. They were extinguished and now they work with satan, their leader. And yet there is a real difference between man and the angels. For man gave God His Son, so that the tear can be restored. That's not for the angels, they are sentenced to hell.

But we must cash that privileged position! We must accept God's Son as Savior, because He has come to earth to die for sin. He came to us, to you and me. He still comes to us, through His Spirit but with His reconciling blood. That privileged position asks you to make a choice: Do you want to belong to God or not? God's Spirit wants to help you make the right choice.

And when we have been taken to His children again, then you know. I was bound, but now I'm free. I was addicted to sin, written dead forever, but then Jesus came to you and gave you freedom. He gave Himself for you. Then we can use that special position with God in the right way. We may live to His glory, from love to Him and from gratefulness to the Son. Then you can sing: I have a song that the angels can not sing: I was a sinner, but I have been saved. What a lovely and great God! Glory hallelujah!

The God of Your Life

Exodus 6: 6 6 I will take you to my people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord who guides you from the Egyptian's forced labor.

Many people who do not know God personally have no idea who He is. They have an image of a divorced God or a judging God. But many churchmen also have a skewed image of God, they have no realization of who God is. But who is he actually then? And why do you want God in your life?

God is angry with sin, absolutely. But God is also full of mercy for the people who commit sin. God does not just let you go on this earth, but He wants to give you love and mercy. God cares for His children, He loves His children. Even though we do not always see a way out, God is there, and will eventually give a way. Just like the Israelites in Egypt.

And when you allow God in your life, once you have surrendered your life to Him, you will experience who He is. God is the one who knows every step in your life, leading every step of your life. And if we do not see a way, God makes a way. He does not let you over your destiny, but leads you to His hand. And then it can sometimes be dark, but God is there! He is next to you, for you, behind you and around you.

Perhaps you have many questions about God, maybe you hide yourself from God or do not want to know anything about Him. You may even be afraid of God. You can drown in it and see God no more. The questions suck you at Him, the fear crushed you. But that's not necessary at all, because God loves you. He wants to give you His love and mercy. He sees you from heaven and knows you through it. He wants to be the God of your life!

And when He is the God of your life, then only you will learn to see who He truly is. He is the one for you who knows every step and goes for you. He is the one that surrounds you day and night and in happy and sad times, in easy and difficult times. God is with you and He never lets you loose. Then you can let the next song of the #castingcrowns work on you and sing!

No other Name but Jesus

Matthew 17: 5 While he was still speaking, behold, a shining cloud shone them; And behold, a voice from the cloud said, This is My beloved Son, in whom I am pleased; Listen to him

When we take our mind into the moment of glorification on the mountain, as described in our text, we can only do one thing: join the disciples on our knees and worship Jesus. God here raises His Own Son and declares Him His love. If God so rises, we should not do that?

For this Jesus the Son of God came to earth to save people. To die for our sins so that we can be reconciled to God again. There is no other name in the world than Jesus. There have been many great people in history and we all know them, but they all died. But the One who lives forever. He sits on the throne of God to pray for His children and to prepare.

Jesus loves people, He wants to save them all. He is the highest King, for He has defeated the great enemy. His subjects have the greatest King to think about. But not only, He is also the great Doctor. He heals the sick and even gives His own Spirit to be cleansed of the most serious illness: sin. Jesus cares for His subjects with inexhaustible love.

There is nobody else on who we could hope for. Do you hope for him? Maybe you have never done that, then you can do that now. Maybe you lost it, then it's time to return. For He is worth the one Name on earth. Nothing is more glorious than seeing Him than hearing from Him and filling you with His love.

Worship Jesus and be filled with His love!

Seeing upon Jesus

Matthew 9: 6 But that you will know that the Son of Man has power to forgive sins on earth (then He said to the paralyzed): Get up, take your bed and go to your house.

Why can we always see people on our own? At times we get into trouble or if it's completely countered, we'll forget about everything. When sickness or mourning comes on our way, we tend to creep in our shell. As we were, we were getting deeper into the well. And even we do not even get out of it. That's also true in faith, when we see ourselves and try it all, it becomes a drama. We need the Spirit of God to be blessed and we must settle our eyes on Christ.

Just like the crippled man against whom Jesus says, your sins are forgiven. The people around Jesus accuse Him of blasphemy. But Jesus shows who He is. He does not only forgive his sins but also heals his illness. The man then walks away, with healthy legs and above all forgiven sins!

Thus, we must establish our eyes on Jesus. Jesus is the One who sees our pain, who knows us sorrow, who knows us through and over. We can see Him to take away our pain, we can hide with Him if we are having trouble and He will be near us. After all, he has all the power!

It is great to know Jesus and to know that we can put everything down to Him!

What is needed to know how to live and die for God's glory?

Ephesians 5: 8 For you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light.

Three things are important to live and die for God's glory. The first is that we know our sin, we know that we are lost when we do not know Jesus Christ as Savior. The second is that we can only be saved by the Lord Jesus Christ of all our sins, and the third is how we can be thankful to God for such redemption.

The three points throughout the Bible runs like a red thread. Sometimes there are jokes about it, others can not live without three points, but it is the line of the Bible. We see this already in Israel. When they leave God and worship other gods, begins the misery for them. But then they are again called upon to turn to God and if they do, they live again much better and have flourishing country again.

So it is in our lives. Without the Lord Jesus we are lost, we are dead. It is the worst position that a person can imagine. If you live as lost, it is miserable with you. Our self is thus contaminated by sin since the fall. We choose the wrong against God and want to live only for ourselves. And if we are not aware of that, are not aware that we need Jesus in our lives, then that is a sad situation. But even if we do know Jesus and through Him saved from sin, we can not ignore our sins. This will never change on earth and therefore it is important to know Him.

We can get out of the terrible situation by Jesus Christ and His work on the cross. He went to the cross and He bore the penalty for sin. That is the message of the Gospel, which is the good news. He also wants to bear our punishment and forgive our sins. In that God's love comes to us and we may assume without that we ourselves have to do something. God's Word teaches us that salvation is given us and we just have our hands open to His love and so be saved from the punishment of God, even so that we may live forever with Him. That is a welcome message, and we should be glad and thank God for that.

And how can we thank God, we read in His Word. We must spend time with Him, putting Him first in our lives and stop all that is sinful and leads us to sin. Because sin does grieve God, but when we follow His Word and seek Him in prayer and in His Word and also look after our neighbor and live in love for creation, we show our gratitude to God. Life is then practice for eternity, it looks upon that great day when Jesus returns on the clouds. Our lives should be dedicated to that day!

Thus these three things as a thread running through the Bible, is not ridiculous. No, they determine our life here on earth. We can not separate one from another and can not stabbing at one of the three remain. Realize who we are, faith in Jesus Christ and live by grace!

What is your only comfort in life and in death?

1 Corinthians 3:23 But you are Christ's and Christ of God.

That I am not my own,but belong, body and soul, in life and in deathto my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life
and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.

This is the faith in a nutshell. We, as Christians, but of one thing wells our comfort and that is that we are Christ's. We are not ourselves, but in Jesus Christ, and He is in God. So we are from God. When we would stay ourselves, sin fester in us continues and we will never be holy before God. But now we are in Christ and his work has been done for us, we are holy to God. God accepts the sacrifice of His Son, as if we did it ourselves and see us through His Son to. Jesus paid for all our sins, not one exception, and that makes us clean before God.

The devil has no power over us and to lapse. He can dominate us when we are not of Jesus Christ, and he can take us as possession if we follow him. He seduces us again and again, trying to draw us to him. Let it be clear that it is not the devil that sin in us, but that we do sin by ourselves. The devil tempts us and pulls us away from God, but if we are Christ, the devil doesn't have that power anymore. The power of Christ's blood is too strong and defeated him at Calvary, even his most deterrent weapon, death is negated and overcome.

And everything is in life for our salvation. That's a comforting thought. Because we can sometimes lose ourselves in why questions. Why did this or that happened or why I'm not strong in certain areas. But then we read in Romans 8:28 that all things work together for good. That makes the sorrow or the pain not smaller, but it should again bring us to Christ because in Him we are with God, and He knows how to make it so that it cooperates too good.

And God gives us His Holy Spirit to assure us that we may live forever with Him. We do not doubt, but we should know for sure. The Christian life does not end with death, but then begins to glory. This little piece of earth is only the beginning, and sometimes difficult, but after death will it take forever and it is not difficult, but delicious. And with that view we can live for Him. Our lives are in God's service and also determines our choices in life. The huge choices of work, study, church and family. But also the smaller choices of what I watch and what not, What I do and what not do.

If God will comfort us and help us in this difficult world. He wil not leaves us alone, but gives us His Word and His Spirit. That will help us to live for Him and He assures us of the glory of God!

My child, you are holy

My dear child, you are holy
Not because you're so good, but because God is good.
God has given you parents who believe to honor Him,
And because He has given you parents that believe, you are holy.
You were born to us as a child of parents with faith,
And by God, you are given to us to grow up sacred.
God has sealed that when you were a baby
When you yourself did not even understand, he said, you belong to me.
Not by your own merit,
But on ground of His love and His covenant.

We as parents have the important task to raise you.
We can tell you the great deeds of God.
We should always remember you his love.
We will constantly fall and have trouble with that,
But God will not break His promise.
He will show you His love and mercy
And remind you that you belong to Him.
That's why you wear that sign on your forehead,
So you never forget that you are holy.

It will not be easy in your life,
You'll also get setbacks and perhaps even questioned God.
But he says to you: You are blessed, my dear child.
Doubt not to me and just keep close to me.
With me it is indeed good and better, you can not get it better somewhere else.
My Son died for you
And by His blood and death you must also belong to me.
I will always be there for you, for I Am That I Am.
I have created the world and I have everything in my hand,
And so you must also live out of my hand.

When you're struggling, I will be with you.
When you're sad, I will dry your tears.
When others hurt you, I will help you.
If you have trouble with things, ask me.
If you do not like things, tell me.
You do not see me, but I'm always there.
People will tell you that I do not exist,
But I've been there from the beginning.
Even those people I have created and I still stretch out my hand to them.

Know then, my beloved child
I am your Father, My Son has taught you.
I have given my Son for you and believe that this is for you.
Then you will forever belong to me, and may live with me.
Because I have a wonderful future for you.
A future without sin, pain and sorrow.
A future in which you can rule with Me and live under my wings.
I'll be your sun, you will see your loving Father.

You are Mine, live close to me. I love you.
